Welcome to the Years of Living Dangerously (YEARS) education website, where you will find climate smart educational resources and learning opportunities that correspond to the science and issues presented in the series.
The real stories and changes occurring in our natural world as told in YEARS offer middle and high school students, teachers and parents the foundation for experiential learning through analyzing the science of climate change, distinguishing facts from opinions, and investigating solutions. Here we offer age- and developmentally appropriate curriculum, resources, online learning, contests and events which relate to daily life.
Our free, online tools and resources are aligned with national standards for education and correlate with Common Core State Standards. These instructional materials will advance newly developed Next Generation Science Standards that feature climate education as a goal for most schools over the next three to five years.
Students and faculty at the college and university level will find materials and case studies to demonstrate leadership in advancing sustainability. We see many signs of encouragement and inspiration coming from campuses across the country. However we hope to engage dramatically more young people and develop their leadership skills and environmental knowledge at a scale that is unprecedented to successfully confront the challenges before them.
Together, we are a learning community dedicated to understanding scientific evidence and perspectives related to the human impacts of climate change. We encourage inter-generational learning and learners of all ages to share their own stories and investigate climate change impacts and prompt solutions in their community.
